Gaborone is the capital city of Botswana and is within easy reach of Upington Country Lodge. If you want to do a round trip from Upington, your next visit will most likely be the CAPRIVI in Namibia. In the Caprivi which is 3 days drive from Kalahari Monate Lodge, you can stay at Kwando Camp or Mazambala Island Lodge on the banks of the Kwando River. If you want to stay along to Kavango River in the central Caprivi, Ngepi Camp is the perfect family destination, while Kaisosi River Lodge in Rundu is the best place in the western Caprivi.

The next stop will be Ghanzi, the gateway to the Kalahari. In Ghanzi you will stay in either the traditional Kalahari Arms Hotel or in the more basic Thakadu Lodge on a game farm. From Ghanzi you will drive north to Maun where you can select accommodation from MAUN ACCOMMODATION. Strictly speaking Thamlakane River Lodge is still in the Kalahari but the vegetation is very different to Upington due to the waters of the Okavango Delta. The Okavango Delta is a water wilderness with some of the best accommodation. The Moremi Game Reserve lies in the Okavango Delta. If you prefer the far northern part of the Okavango Delta you can select accommodation at Shakawe on the western panhandle of the Okavango Delta. Botswana is only a few hours drive from Upington and the Kalahari Monate Lodge. If you drive north you will cross the border at Tsabong. The only overnight accommodation near Tsabong is Berrybush which offers basic and clean chalets on a farm. From Berrybush it will take you only an hour with a 4x4 track to the Trans Kgalagadi Frontier Park. Further to the north and deeper into the Kalahari, lies Kang. Kang Ultra Lodge offers the best accommodation along the Trans Kalahari Highway between Upington and Maun.

Once in the Kalahari you would most likely want to visit Namibia. Namibia is covered by two deserts, namely the Kalahari and the Namib. The Namibian border is very close to Upington Country Lodge. The capital of Windhoek is perhaps two days by vehicle from Upington Country Lodge. Once in Windhoek you will have a choice of hotel and self-catering accommodation. South Africa's highest, longest and most beautiful mountains are the Drakensberg mountains. Here in the Drakensberg mountains which is just more then 8 hours drive with a Temba hired car you, will find Amazian Mountain River Lodge near Underberg. Amazian is a place where every night turns out to be to be a honeymoon.

Perhaps you want to hire a 4x4 vehicle from Temba to visit the Wildcoast of the Eastern Cape. It will take you about eight hours by car to the unofficial capital of the Wildcoast region, where you can perhaps overnight at Umtata Savoy Hotel in Mthatha (formerly Umtata). Still within easy reach of any hired car, lies Port St Johns, where you can choose between Umngazi River Lodge the luxury resort or N'taba River Lodge self-catering accommodation. If you want to travel further, you would need to hire a 4x4 to visit places such as Hole-in-the-Wall, Kobs Inn Hotel and Mazeppa Bay Hotel. All these wildlife resorts can be reached within a day from Upington Country Lodge.

Only about two hours from the Upington Country Lodge is Britstown in South Africa. In Britstown you can stay at either the Britstown Transkaroo Lodge or Kambro Lodge self-catering accommodation, 20 km north of Britstown.
